Get Around Komodo Island in Nusa Tenggara Timur

This island will send you back to prehistoric era where you can see giant Monitor Lizards know as Komodo Dragon live free in the island. A trip to Komodo Island to see the dragons is a totally awesome adventure. The experienced and well trained park rangers will take you on a hike through the bush lands of Komodo Island for a lifetime experience.

Komodo Island is located between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores at the western tip of the province of Nusa Tenggara Timur. It is a part of Komodo National Park and Marine reserve beside two other islands Rinca and Pandar. Professionally managed world class Nature Park and diving destination, makes it a great destination for a prehistoric dragon’s visit and excellent diving. The underwater world is teeming with a seemingly endless collage of fish species and coral formation.

The majority of the people in and around the Park are fishermen who originally come from Bima, Manggarai, South Flores and South Sulawesi. Descendents of the original people of Komodo still live in Komodo, but there are no pure blood left and their culture and language is slowly being integrated with the recent migrants.

To Get around
There are no best transports in this island beside your own foot, as there are neither roads nor motor transport. On sea you can charter a boat to see around the islands or use sea kayak to travel anywhere you like; into small grottos and bay s, around rocky points and slowly above shallow reefs brimming with fish. You may wish to wear long pants, sunglasses and a hat as you walk in the interior.
