Sa’dan River Rafting at Sulawesi Selatan

Sa’dan River or Saddang River is one of the longest rivers in South Sulawesi, flowing a distance of 182 km and measures 80m at its widest point, which split Toraja into two part. Saddang river is the lifeblood of the people of Toraja as it irrigates the surrounding fertile ricefields and provides water for both humans and cattle in this largely agriculture land.

The rafting challenge in Saddang River offers the range from grade 3 to grade 5. It could take two days to raft the entire rivers. Along the route the river sometimes moves slowly over flat terrains, creating an unshakeable attraction to white water rafting aficionados.

The Saddang river is the river for experienced and adventurous rafters. The rapids at Puru are grade three, the Seba rapids are grade four and the fastest is in Fitri rapids offering grade five challenges, it sure will pump up your adrenaline.

The start of rafting is at the hanging bridge of Buah kayu , in northern Rantapao, some 3.5 hours ride by 4wheels drive vehicle and finishes at the Pappi bridge at Enrekang. You don’t have to worries about accommodation, since there are many houses along the river to stay the night.

To Get There
You will take the same route as when you go to Tana Toraja, around 8 hours drive from Makassar. Stop in Rantapao and change your transport with 4 wheels drive to go to Buah Kayu the starting point of the rafting. It takes 3.5 hours drive.
